Easter Bunny Centerpiece with Smoothfoam

Howdy folks, today I want to share a home decor project using Smoothfoam.  Valentine Day is past, so that means it is time to decorate for Easter. I love Easter decor- it is just so cute!My DD1 loves Peeps so I just had to make this for her.

Supplies:
Smoothfoam 8"x1" Disc
Smoothfoam 6"x1" Disc
Smoothfoam 1"x6"x12" Sheet
Smoothfoam 2"x4"x4" Block (4)
Hot Knife Tool, toothpicks
Acrylic Paint and brushes, circle punch
Floral Moss, Ribbon, Black Cardstock,
Paper Flowers, Decorative Eggs,
Container

1. Using 6" disc as a pattern, cut a portion of the 8" Disc so that the 6" disc will  fit snug against it.
2. Draw pattern for ears and trace onto 1x6x12 sheet, cut out the shapes, and smooth the edges a bit for a more rounded look.
3. Attach the pieces together using toothpicks. Paint front and back with acrylic paint and set aside to dry. Add punched circles for eyes and nose. Tie bow around neck. Insert sharpened dowels into bottom of bunny and anchor in your desired container.

I have this wonderful rustic wooden piece that I normally use for silverware, and it turns out that the 2x4x4 Block fits perfectly into the sections! I covered them with moss and inserted the bunny into the front sections.

I decorated the box with some paper flowers, and some decorated eggs.

I made these eggs which I am absolutely in love with to go at the base. To see the details on these, please see my blog post HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. What are you crafting up for Easter? I would love to see what everyone else is up to, so leave your links in the comments below so I can check it out!

Vintage Easter Eggs

Howdy everyone, today I want to share a fun project that I am so happy with! I am planning several projects for Easter Decor this year and I wanted to start with something that was QUICK!

How cute are these?? I am in love with them. I used paper mache` eggs, vintage book pages, and Modge Podge. Tear the pages into small pieces, apply Modge Podge to the egg using a paintbrush, and add paper one piece at a time. I used my fingers to smooth the paper pieces on, until the whole egg was covered.  I used a wet wipe to blot an excess Modge Podge off - I applied it very heavy!

I added a band of lace around the egg, then wound some thin crochet thread around it several times. I added a charm to each one before tying the thread into a bow.  A little bit of pretty stuff onto each one finished them off.

I have a few more to make for some other projects and I hope they all turn out as well as these!

Thanks for stopping by today. What are your Easter crafty projects?

More Art Play with Deflecto Craft and ADORNit

I have had so much fun with the Art Play Paintables paper from ADORNit! I am loving them so much!!! Really, I really love to color anyway, so these are right up my alley.

Here is another project I made this week using one of the larger images from the set.
I used the 8 1/2 x 11Cubicle Sign Holder from Deflecto Crafts for my frame. I used a combination of Tombow markers and PITT® Pastel Pencils from Faber-Castell to color it in.

When I went to mount my finished project onto paper and insert it into the frame, I noticed something pretty cool,,,

The paper that came in the frame made a pretty good background for my project- it was so pretty! So I mounted my project right on the included paper and put it right back in the frame :o) - upcycling at it's best, right?

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a fabulous week!!

Feeling the Love with Deflecto Craft

Good morning everyone, who is ready for Valentine Day? I am adding the last few items to my decor and I wanted to share some of them with you this morning.

I have received some amazing items from Deflecto Craft over the last few months and I pulled a few of those items out to play with for this month.

For this project I started with the Deflecto Craft 12x12 Clear Frame and added a photo from the Caribbean Crawl last year.

I pulled out some vintage crepe paper and made a few flowers for the corner spray, giving them all a light spray with Gold Color Shine.

I used some beautiful fabric from ADORNit and a fabulous little item I got in my Prime Blogger Event box from Clover - it is the Kanzashi Flower Maker in Medium and it is a pretty handy little tool if I do say so!

I added a rub on in the corner- I swear I am going to use that drawer of rub-ons up!

I pulled two chipboard hearts from my stash and grabbed some SANDY LION- yes I am a paper hoarder- to cover them with. The jewel is from my stash, I can't remember who makes it, sorry!

Thanks for stopping by! What are you doing for Valentine Day this year, I would love to hear.

ADORNit Art Play Papers and Blog Hop

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be part of the ADORNit Blog Hop and I really enjoyed receiving a supply of their new Art Play papers! I am so in love with these papers y'all!

If you arrived here from the ADORNit blog, you are on the right track, if not you might want to hop back to the beginning and start again.
These papers are so amazing- they are nice and thick, so they hold up to lots of mediums well. You really need some, like now!

I made several projects with the fabulous supplies I received but I am thinking my favorite is this amazing little Art Journal. I wanted something small, that I could color in as the mood struck me, would be pretty mobile, and easy to play with. This little book fits the bill! I can work on it as the mood strikes me, and finish it as I go along. I hope you like it!

I used Eileen Hull's brand new Passport Book die from Sizzix for this super cute little book! It is 3.5 wide x 5 high and it is just the cutest thing!

I used papers from the Blender Basics for the entire album- I picked some colors that make me happy and worked from there.

I assembled the album a little different than the directions call for- you know I gotta be different!

I really wanted some texture for the cover- really a lot of texture- so I used the Flourishes Wood Shapes to cover the entire front.  I inked the shapes, then used white paint to highlight them.

I added some silver pearls and chipboard title to the front to finish it off. LOVE the look and the texture I ended up with!

I picked several of my favorite 3x4 images from the Art Play sheets and trimmed them out loosely following the outlines. Since I want to be able to take my time to color them in, I used some mini paper clips to hold them in place in the book until I am ready to glue them in place.

To finish off the spine I stamped a pattern with a coordinating ink, then one it was assembled I wrapped Maya Road twine around it several times, then tied a very big bow. I am all about the bows, ya know! I added some bling from my stash.

My clue for the hop is "R". Be sure to collect all the clues along the hop for your chance to win!

From here, please hop on over to Susan Brown's blog to see what she has created.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have you visited my Facebook page yet? I would love it if you would stop by and give me a like :)

Wedding Bouquet with Offray Ribbon

Good morning everyone~ This month I had an opportunity to work with one of my very favorite things- RIBBON! Offray Ribbon and Designer Crafts Connection are joining forces this month to show off the some of the fabulous things you can do with ribbon :)

I received some fabulous metallic ribbons in White, Lavender and Silver and the first thing I thought was WEDDING. So that is what I went with.
Smaller, family style weddings are my favorite, and it is pretty easy to make your own bouquet from fresh flowers.

Start by gathering your flowers and stripping all the leaves from the stems. Start with the flower you want in the center of your bouquet, and start adding flowers around it, holding them all in your left hand (or right, if you are left handed) as you add to the bunch. Once you have the bouquet as full as you want it, make sure the edges are pretty even and the whole thing looks balanced. Trim the stems about a couple of inches longer than your final length and use a heavy rubber band to hold the stems together while you work with them.

I made some small bows to use as filler in the flowers with Cosmic Lavender ribbon; set those aside for now. For the first layer of ribbon, I start at the bottom of the stems and tie a square knot with the ribbon to keep it in place; trim the short edge off. For this layer I used Cosmic White and wrapped it overlapping layers all the way to the top of the stems, tying another knot to secure; trim edges. For the top layer of ribbon I used a Silver Satin 3/8". For this layer you will need to find the center of your ribbon (I used about 2 yds) and place the center behind the stems at the bottom. Bring the ribbon around to the front and tie a square knot. Add a decorative floral pin in the center of the knot to keep it in place. Wrap the ribbon in a crisscross pattern up the stems, overlapping them in the front about every inch or so; insert a pin where they overlap (don't tie knots here). When you get to the top, wrap the each side of the ribbon around the stems a couple of times, then tie a knot to secure.

Once you have finished wrapping, trim the stems just below the ribbons, leaving about 1" showing.

I added a large bow made with the Cosmic White and Silver Satin, and tied it just below the flower heads on the front.

I tucked the Cosmic Lavender bows in the top of the bouquet where ever I needed a little filler.

Be sure to add ribbon to your accessories so that everything coordinates! Here I used the Silver Satin on the cake server, adding a matching fabric flower on top.

Thanks so much to Offray for the fabulous ribbons to work with :)  Be sure to hop through the entire web ring to see the other amazing things the designers came up with.  You can navigate through the ring by using the logo on my right sidebar.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a wonderful day.

My Favorite Tool - Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop

Good afternoon everyone! Today we have a fresh hop for Designer Crafts Connection

and our theme this month is to showcase our favorite tool or technique. To navigate through the web ring, use the arrows in the logo in my sidebar to the right :o)

I really had to do some thinking on this one, because, really, I have a lot of tools and I love them all! If I really had to narrow it down to one tool that is my all time favorite, I don't think I could. But somewhere really close to the top would be my Cinch Binding Machine from We R Memory Keepers. I really like to make mini albums, and I like to make them from scratch from bits and pieces. This machine is the bomb dot com for doing just that!

This little baby is a masterpiece. If you don't have one, you need to run right out and buy one today. For real. I mean it.  Let me show you a few of the little gems I have made with this baby.

Chasing Dreams Mini Album
This started out as a Maya Road Chipboard and Kraft album. I trimmed the scallops off one side of all the pieces, then punched and bound it with my Cinch. Easy peasy.

Travel Journal - Cruise 2012

For this album, I used plain chipboard, and a ton of 7-Gypsies to fill my pages, and them bound it all together. I love that I can include anything I want with my Cinch.

December Daily 2011
For this year's journal, I even included a lot of the cards that I received from friends in the back of my album. It is so easy to include all the little things when you can punch what ever you want to!

Road Tripping
This album was made entirely from thick bookboard- and I used the coil from WRMK to bind it. The Cinch can punch a HUGE variety of materials- not just paper!

Alice in Wonderland Mini Book - Part 1
Alice in Wonderland Mini Book - Part 2
Alice in Wonderland Mini Book - Part 3

This album is a mixture of so many things! I used acrylic, chipboard, papers, and fabrics and combined them all with the help of my Cinch.

I really like to add a lot of little details to the bindings of my mini albums. The Cinch really gives me the ability to do this- I add ribbons, charms, tidbits, all kinds of things, and it doesn't matter if I use the coils or the D-rings, I have space to add my stuff!

So there you have it- one of my favorite tools. Also at the top of the list would be the;

1/4" Power Punch
This little baby can punch through anything you can fit in there. I LOVE it! It is like a Crop-o-Dile on crack.

And speaking of the Crop-o-dile,
I don't know how I ever lived without this thing. Seriously. Now,,, if they could only re-engineer it so that the punched paper piece would clear the tool and so I wouldn't have to bang it on the table to get those little pieces out.
