Etched vanilla jar
Who wouldn't love to get a beautiful etched jar full of homemade vanilla as a gift? I love vanilla and I love to make my own. I also love to give it as a gift - so presentation is important. etchall™ reusable etching creme makes it super easy to turn a plain glass jar into something wonderful to give to a special someone.

This month etchall™ is sponsoring the blog hop at Designer Crafts Connection - be sure to check out the blog to see all the great projects we made!

etchall® makes a wide variety of products to work with. For this project I used
So let's get started!

I used my Cameo Silhouette to cut the etchmask™ sheet. It's hard to see in the photo, but there is a box round the word that is about the same size as the side of the bottle where I wanted to etch. Because I am going to use transfer paper to place to mask, I won't be able to see the cut for placement. I use a black marker to outline to cut so I will be able to see it. Once this is done I cut the excess etchmask™ away.

Cut a piece of etchmask™ Transfer Sheet and place it over the mask. Use the squeegee tool to smooth it down. Cut the excess away.

Peel the backing from the etchmask™ and apply it to the surface to be etched. Use the squeegee tool to make sure it is adhered securely. Remove the transfer sheet from the top and remove the letters using the Swivel Knife or Detail Pick.  Insert the point of the knife into the center of a letter, rather than at the edge; this will keep the edges from the distorted. Apply masking tape around the edges to keep from accidently getting etching creme where you don't want it!

Apply a thick coat of etching creme and allow it to sit for 15 minutes. My supply looks a little like chocolate pudding because it was shipped in the heat of summer - it still works just fine!  After 15 minutes, scrape the creme back into the jar and rinse the area with cold running water taking care not to get it on the bottle.

Once the glass is etched you can apply color using paint or other methods. I like Rub 'n Buff, it is quick and easy! I prefer to leave the mask in place when I apply it - it's just less messy this way in my opinion. Apply the Rub 'n Buff with a soft cloth, and then buff away the excess. Remove the mask and tape.

Fill with vanilla add a ribbon, add to a basket with some baking goodies and you have the perfect gift!

Spring Butterfly Craft Frame

Spring Butterfy Acryllic Craft Frame
It's spring time here in Texas and my thoughts have turned to flowers and butterflies. I created this fun frame to go with my spring decor and I have to say it is pretty versatile!  I used the 4X6 Green Craft Frame from Deflecto for this project.  My butterfly in the center is a chipboard piece from Blue Fern Studios that has been heat embossed.

I added some fun dots around the outside edge using a Testors Acrylic Paint Marker - the let the frame sit overnight to dry. I found out the hard way that it takes the paint a while to dry on this surface :)

For my center section I wanted to use a Sign Tag but it wasn't quite large enough to cover the opening in the center of the frame. I made a double mat using cardstock, stamping the smaller layer using StazOn ink and a smaller Dyan Reaveley stamp.

The Sign Tags are a beautiful mat surface which makes them perfect for using rub ons. This is one from an older set and I don't even remember what brand it is. Yes, I am a hoarder. For the leaves I used a McGill punch I have had literally for years. It was one of the very first punches I bought back when I started scrapbooking!

I used lots of Prima Flowers, some buttons and embellishments, and pearls in the corners to dress the frame up. I have found that a hot glue gun works very well to adhere these on to the front of the frames.

Yes, these flowers from Prima are forever old too. Did I mention that I am a hoarder? I love these huge blooms and I am sad that I have very few left.
